"INDUSTRY READY" E&J Talk Upcoming Mixtape, Future of Wind Clan and More!

Wind Clan's E. Wind and J.Wind are branching off from the village to create a new grittier project entitled "Industry Ready". They took a little time out to talk with Wind Planet about their mixtape and what the future holds for these Mactown ninjas.
WP: Where did you guys come up with the name, and what impact do you intend to have with this project? Is there a specific theme?
E: Yeah, so...we just came up with the name for E&J using our initials...nothing more.
J: Yeah, from the initials of our name and whatnot...we just plan on SMASHIN'. Making good music and putting Macon on the map. No theme, we're just rappin'!
E: <coughs> ...We're just US. E&J all day, baby!
WP: What makes an "E&J" project different from a full Wind Clan project?
E: I think it's just a little bit more...grittier. We talk about a little more explicit topics, but at the same time, mix it with motivation. Y'know? You wanna add something [J]?
J: Yeah, I got a GREAT analogy...Wind Clan is more like on that Outkast-type shit, while E&J is more like that UGK type shit. Ya feel me? We just keeping it gutter. Street, y'know? The OTHER side.
E. The other side, y'know, the Darkside of the Moon. Just being us, being real. All day, EVERY day.
WP: Are there any special guest appearances on this project?
E: Uh...no features.
J: We have no features on the project, no disrespect to anyone, of course. We just wanted to display our talent--that we can do anything any other artist can do. We just wanted to roll solo dolo on this one.
E: When we started out, we didn't have SHIT. We didn't have nobody.
WP: Where did the production come from? Will we hear any C. Wind or CB Mitch on this project?
J: No...um, we don't have production from either of them. Maybe for the album we'll have production from them, or on a more serious project. But, for right now, we're just doing a mixtape and having fun with it. It's free music, and we didn't want to waste their time on free music.
WP: You guys did all the writing, recording, and early promotion yourselves. What challenges have you faced with this project and what have you learned in the process?
J: The only problems we really ran into were with the promotion. Shit, just getting it "out there" out there. We're in the process of fixing all of that.
WP: How much do you feel you've grown as MCs since we last heard you on "Sneaky Like A Ninja"?
E: I feel like I've grown a LOT. Tremendously. Just more conscious, more...I've just been THROUGH more, y'know, and I just sorta put in my music.
J: Yeah, I feel like, uh...y'know what? I don't think I've changed much, I just feel like the content has changed. That's all.
E: Yeah, we can rap over anything...because we went to the Chris Wind aka Cykotik "How To Rap" school. Y'all should go to that. Check that out.
WP: Are either of you also working on solo projects? When do you think we'll see a new full Wind Clan project?
E: Yeah, we're working on solo projects. Um, I got a couple songs solo, but our main focus was getting this E&J project out here and go'on head and have this E&J movement.
J: Speaking of solo albums, "The Revolution Will Be Televised"--that's the name of my solo album...I mean, "The Revolution". Anyway, the Wind Clan album, it's whenever--whenever we get together and decide on making one. That's just how it always is. Whenever we decide on making one, we'll make one.
WP: What's the release date for "Industry Ready" and where can people find it?
E: The mixtape will be dropping December 31 [tentatively]. More details coming on when it'll drop since we're working on a nice little surprise for the fans.
